Knitting in the Kitchen – A Time For Sock Knitting

Keep your feet warm this winter by knitting yourself a pair of socks!  If you have basic knitting skills, sign up now! This three-week course will cover knitting cuff-down socks on double-pointed needles.  The student will learn an elastic cast on, joining in the round, working the heel flap, and closing the toe.  The sock will be custom fit for your foot!  Once you wear hand-knit socks, you won’t want to wear any other socks.
The sock pattern is called “Vanilla Latte Socks”.  The pattern will be given to you in class.  It is suitable for self-striping, variegated, or solid color yarn.
Materials required:
Yarn should be fingering weight, at least 350 yards, and should be a yarn that has nylon in it.  Check out sock yarns at your local yarn shop, or contact me if you need more information.
Needles:  Set of 5 Double-pointed needles in size 1, or a size that gets gauge of 8 stitches to one inch.
Scissors, tapestry needle and a few stitch markers.
If this is all greek to you, don’t let this dissuade you from taking the class.  Contact me and I can give you more details or suggestions on purchasing the yarn and needles.
The class will meet on January 17, 24 and 31 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.  You should be able to complete one sock during class and work the second sock after class.  If you need help outside of class, I am generally knitting at Once Upon a Thyme Bookshop on Saturday mornings from 10:00 to 12:00.

Classes will be January 17, 24,31 from 6-8 pm.

Cost is $50 per person for this series.

Seating is limited to 8 people, so sign up quickly!
