This is a hands-on evening of cooking with friends, perfect for a double, triple, or quadruple date with friends, or a girls night out. One of our Bookshop staff will facilitate the evening, but you get to make this your own! While we are not able to serve alcoholic beverages, you are welcome to bring your own for the evening. Celebrate the San Juan Feast Day with Casa Nûñez! Traditional Puerto Rican cuisine is on the menu in June for this fun demonstration. You’re in the kitchen, watching these amazing dishes be created! Ask questions and receive tips and tricks from these seasoned chefs!

Susie and Iván Núñez have developed a comfortable blend of international culinary styles that has evolved into the distinctive Casa Núñez flavor. Iván learned the traditional cooking of his native Puerto Rico from his grandmother (“A,” short for Angela) and his great-aunt (Titi Maria). As a young man, he not only owned a successful Mexican restaurant called Paso Real in New Mexico, but also placed third in the prestigious Chilympiad in San Marcos, Texas. He later married Susie in Gibraltar and the pair made their first home together in Madrid, Spain.  Through his Air Force Attaché duty at the U.S. Embassy in Madrid, the couple began collecting authentic recipes from both Spanish and third-country acquaintances. They had regular reasons to invite a wide variety of guests to the Núñez home for meals and the Casa Núñez entertainment style was born. Using traditional elements from both the Mediterranean and Puerto Rico, Susie and Iván have fully incorporated the rustic arts of food preparation into their daily cooking and are happy to share those practices.
